Savannah Residents Can Renew Driver's License Via Mail
Many Savannah residents have experienced significantly shorter waiting times at Georgia DMV office since the agency unveiled its online driver's license renewal service on July 1st.
Almost 10,000 people statewide have taken advantage of online renewal since then, and that - combined with mail-in and telephone renewals - has allowed about 133,000 qualified license seekers to avoid the infamously long lines. That means there are one-third fewer people having to suffer through a lengthy wait.
To renew online or to the check on the status of a renewal, drivers will need their RIN, or Resident Identification Number, which is printed on the renewal application notice they receive in the mail. Applicants will also need the exam date located on the front of the driver's license or identification card.
The online service is located on the Web at DMVS' Online License Renewal. To renew by phone, call toll free 1-866-334-2468 (1-866-33-GAGOV). Applications will not be accepted on or after your current expiration date.
For more information on this and other services, such as online tag renewal, please visit the DMVS Web site.
