Fortune Magazine Names Memorial Health Among Top 100 Places to Work

Memorial Health has been named one of the country’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” in 2004 by Fortune Magazine. Memorial Health ranked number 54 on the seventh annual prestigious list.

The list is compiled by Robert Levering and Milton Moskowitz of the Great Place to Work Institute in California. According to Levering, a great place to work is one where “you trust the people that you work for, have pride in what you do, and enjoy the people that you work with.”

To create the list, Levering and Moskowitz surveyed 46,526 randomly selected employees from 304 candidate companies. Each candidate company also filled out a questionnaire detailing its policies, practices, and philosophies. Companies were evaluated on both the employee surveys and the company questionnaires, however, the employee opinions comprised two-thirds of the total score.

“We are proud of each and every one of our Team Members for making Memorial Health a great place to work,” said Memorial Health President and CEO, Robert A. Colvin. “This is an honor not only for Memorial Health, but also for our city, county, and region.”

Memorial Health is the only healthcare system in the country to be named a Distinguished Hospital by J.D. Power and Associates and a “100 Best Companies to Work For” by Fortune Magazine.

Memorial Health is a two-state healthcare organization serving a 35-county area in southeast Georgia and southern South Carolina. The system includes its flagship Memorial Health University Medical Center, a 530-bed tertiary medical center; CareOne, its two-state home care division; Memorial Health primary and specialty care physician networks; a major medical education program; business and industry services; and NurseOne, a 24-hour call center.
