Daimler-Chrysler Plant On Hold for Savannah

The impact of Daimler-Chrysler's proposed production plant near Savannah is still being tallied, and although the final decision has been delayed, the economic effects would be tremendous to the area economy.

The plant would bring 3,300 jobs to the area and pump $155 million annually into the local economy. The average wage earned by employees of the plant would be more than $22 per hour

However, the proposed plant was recently delayed by the supervisory board of Daimler-Chrysler. While most insiders in local government still feel good about the eventual deal, it's not for certain.
