Savannah Electric Teams Up To Clean National Wildlife Beach

Savannah Electric’s environmental, safety and health department has arranged a beach clean-up on Wassaw Island.

This is a fairly common occurrence for Savannah Electric employees, but in this case, the company is partnering with two governmental organizations to remove trash and debris from this important barrier island.

The Georgia Environmental Protection Division and the United States Department of the Interior will also participate.

A previous Savannah Electric effort on Little Tybee Island resulted in the collection of over 50 bags of plastic containers, glass bottles, broken fishing gear and other dangerous and unsightly debris. Removing such items helps to protect the people who visit the islands as well as area wildlife. The clean-ups also preserve the beauty of our coastal environment.
